When I started playing Stranded Without a Phone, it reminded me of some of my favorite point-and-click adventure games from when I was young.  Your character’s spaceship crashed near the island you start the game on and your objective is to survive long enough to build a space phone from parts that wash up on the shore.  You’ll need to combine various items you find around the small, randomly generated island (rocks, flowers, coconuts, fish, etc.) to create weapons, shelter, and medicine to help you survive.  Thankfully, the in-game tutorial, which I highly, highly recommend going through, is great and lays out the basics very clearly.

Section 8, developed by TimeGate Studios, is a bit of a strange beast.  It was recently released on the PlayStation Network as a downloadable title (it received a disc-based release on Xbox 360 and PC earlier) and is primarily focused on its multiplayer mode.  But the game does highly suggest you run through the single player story before you hop online and start dropping from the sky and flying around with your jetpack (hell yes, jetpacks).

I spent all day playing Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition, something I haven’t done in a while.  Once I got into the world of Zenozoik, I couldn’t tear myself away until I finished and the game’s secrets were revealed (like what the heck Father-Mother really is).

In Zeno Clash, you play as Ghat, a son of the strange, bird-like Father-Mother.  After being banished from his home, Ghat (along with his traveling companion, Deadra) has to outrun his brothers and sisters, travel to the end of the world, and try to figure out what happened along the way.

Tails behind Sonic. Where he belongs. *glare*

I’m definitely not the most hardcore Sega fan I know, but their games have always held a special place in my heart.  As someone who was born in the early 80s, I was part of the generation of gamers that grew up with Sonic.  That being the case, I was a little worried about Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.  I was worried that it would turn into a quick cash-in on my fondest Sega memories.  Thankfully, once I got into the game, I found I had little to worry about.

I went into The Impossible Game with all the hubris I could muster.  “I’ve been gaming for more than 20 years,” I thought.  “One little game won’t beat me that easily.  I’ve finished some pretty hard games in my time, I should be alright.”

Shortly after I started, though, things started to get ugly.  The Impossible Game left my crying in a corner.  I was screaming things at my iPhone that would make Larry Flynt blush.  I had been hurt and abused by this game.  I had been beaten.

Review: Fruit Ninja

Fruit is a four-letter word

I wasn’t aware that ninjas had such a problem with fruit.  But as Fruit Ninja claims, “All ninjas hate fruit!” Your sensei (who also gives you random fruit-related facts after each round) gives you the mission to, “Swipe the fruit with your finger to end their journey.”  To fulfill your mission, you need to swipe your finger across the screen to cut each piece of fruit in half (while avoiding the game-ending bombs).  It sounds simple (and it is), but that’s the game’s strong point.

Babeorella puts you in the shoes to the buxom, space-faring titular heroine after she crashes her spaceship into an asteroid.  At first, the game seems like a fairly standard dual-stick shooter, but it changes a few small elements that makes it much more enjoyable than I would have thought.
